Nike : Air Max
The Nike Air Max is a technology developed by Nike in the late 80s that would become one of the brand's most significant innovations. This technology was first applied to a sports shoe, the Air max 1 created by Tinker Hatfield, the legendary designer of the swoosh brand.
The Nike Air Max is a cushioning system that takes the form of a visible air cushion in the midsole. These cushions are positioned in different areas of the sole to provide the necessary support and comfort. This technology is present on a wide range of models, from lifestyle to performance, demonstrating the quality and technical sophistication of the Nike Air Max. The Air Max brings lightness, as air cushions replace the heavier midsole materials, resulting in a lighter, higher-performance pair. This cushioning responds to the different needs of athletes, as it is designed to adapt to their movements, be they changes of direction, rebounds or cushioning. The purpose of the Air Max is to absorb the impact of the foot during running, and the energy return provided by the cushions also helps protect muscles, joints and tendons during basketball practice. What's more, despite the continuous demand on the cushioning, the Air Max has an excellent lifespan and its contribution will be constant throughout the use of the shoe.
Air Max technology brings together different features specific to basketball, which is why this cushioning is found on many models such as the LeBron 13 Low, the Nike Air Max Audacity, the Nike Air Uptempo and many lifestyle models.
