Service client b4b : Legal warranty of conformity
- What is the legal warranty of conformity and how long is it valid?
When you buy a product, it must comply with its intended use and the seller's description.
In order to guarantee this conformity, the professional seller is bound by the legal guarantee of conformity (articles L217-1 to L217-14 of the French Consumer Code) for a period of 2 years from delivery of the goods to the individual consumer.
This warranty applies to defects in conformity already present at the date of delivery.

- When does the legal warranty of conformity apply?
The legal guarantee of conformity applies to all products sold by basket4ballers and is free of charge. According to French law, a product is considered to be non-compliant when :
- the Good received is unfit for the use usually expected of a similar good (for example, for a basketball shoe, the impossibility of playing with it),
- the Good does not correspond to the description given by the seller even if it functions perfectly (for example, the color of the item shipped does not correspond to the model presented),
- the Good does not possess the qualities advertised by the seller (for example, the cushioning technology of a basketball shoe is not as advertised and does not have the same characteristics),
- the Good presents a manufacturing defect, an imperfection, a bad assembly present at the origin.
Basketball shoes are subjected to considerable stress on the court, both in matches and in training. Repeated jumps, rubbing against the floor or other players' shoes, shocks or sudden changes of direction all weaken the integrity of the pair over time. Not all wear is due to a manufacturing defect.
To avoid premature wear of your shoes, there are a few tips to help you extend their life:
1. Outsole wear
Cause: Running, lateral movements and sudden stops gradually wear down the rubber or gum of the outsole, especially on the most abrasive surfaces.
Signs: Lack of grip on the ground, smoothing of the sole pattern, appearance of cracks in the sole.
Prevention :
- Choose a pair adapted to the playing surface. Outdoor play, for example, calls for pairs specifically designed for this surface.
- Use pairs intended for indoor surfaces only on the field
- Alternate between several pairs to extend the life of each one
2. Midsole collapse or loss of cushioning
Cause: Use after use, the repeated impact of jumps and runs compresses and degrades the properties of the cushioning foams offered by the major manufacturers (EVA, Zoom Air, Boost, etc.), reducing their ability to absorb shock.
Signs: A sensation of loss of cushioning (less bounce, discomfort), even the appearance of knee or ankle pain.
Prevention :
- Frequent shoe renewal for regular players
- Make sure they are well ventilated after training and matches, in a dry place, to prevent foam degradation.
3. Deterioration of the upper
Cause: Contact with opponents and repeated twisting can weaken the materials of the upper, whether mesh, leather or synthetic.
Signs: Abrasion of materials, tears, threads pulled on part of the upper, loss of material or tears on the collar of the shoe
Prevention:- Choose a shoe adapted to your style of play, with reinforced materials for powerful players and flexible materials for faster players.
4. Removal of the sole
Cause: Moisture, perspiration and successive twisting weaken glue and seams.
Signs: Visible gap between sole and upper
Prevention :
- Air and dry your shoes properly after each match and training session
5. Worn laces and eyelets
Cause: Repeated tightening and loosening and constant friction can lead to progressive degradation of laces and their fasteners.
Signs: Frayed or broken laces, torn eyelets.
Prevention :
- Replacing worn laces
- Choose the right shoe size to avoid over-tightening laces and damaging eyelets.
- Always unlace your shoes properly before putting them on or taking them off.
Cases not covered by the legal warranty of conformity
It is important to note that most of these signs of wear and tear or deterioration are not covered by the legal warranty of conformity, particularly in the following cases:
- Normal wear: A sole that becomes smoother over time or cushioning that loses its effectiveness.
- Incorrect use: Playing on unsuitable pitches accelerates wear and tear.
- Inappropriate care: Machine-washing shoes, not ventilating them after exercise, not relaxing them properly.
- Unofficial repairs: Gluing on soles or adding unsuitable insoles.
- Accidental damage: A violent shock, a cut or damage caused by contact with an opponent or a fall.
No basketball shoe lasts forever, but with the right reflexes, you can extend their lifespan and optimize your performance on the court. Maintain your shoes, alternate pairs and choose models suited to your sport.
