Nike's NBA City Edition collection is back: presentation of the jerseys of the 30 NBA franchises for the 2023-2024 edition.

As every year since 2017, around the resumption of the NBA season, Nike and each NBA franchise present their City Edition jerseys. These will be worn by players over the course of a single NBA season. Complementing the Icon, Association and Statement jerseys, the City Edition kits focus on a detail of the city's or franchise's history, and make it possible to celebrate cultural or historical heritage, while paying tribute to the fans and community of a city, or even an entire state.

Because they allow designers to free themselves to some extent from the basic colors of the franchise, certain City Edition jerseys quickly become very popular with fans, as was the case for the various Vice City jerseys of the Miami Heat, the return of the Fiesta jersey of the San Antonio Spurs last season, or even those of the Brooklyn Nets inspired by the genius of avant-garde New York painter Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Detroit Pistons jersey City Edition 2023-2024

We begin this roundup with the Detroit Pistons, who have chosen to pay tribute to the franchise's emblematic coach, Chuck Daly, who officiated on the Motor City bench between 1983 and 1992, helping the Detroit Bad-Boys win two NBA titles in 1989 and 1990, in one of the most competitive periods in NBA history. This predominantly black jersey features a patch with his initials, as well as his signature below the jersey's size label.

Toronto Raptors jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The color gold, which has been present on the Raptors' alternative jerseys for several years now, makes its comeback this year on the Raptors' City jersey, a color presented as a symbol of unity and diversity for the city of Toronto. It also features the usual slogan of Canada's only NBA franchise: We The North.

New York Knicks jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Knicks are seeing double with this City Edition 2023-2024 jersey, which features the colors of the Knicks jersey from the 2000s, with a black stripe in addition to the usual blue background and orange details. There's also a Nike x NYC logo, already present on the 2022-2023 edition, in homage to the City that Never Sleeps.

Milwaukee Bucks jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Once again this year, the Bucks have focused on community, with a beautiful jersey lined in textured blue. Around the size label is a Deer District patch, in the shape of the state of Wisconsin, and the inscription Gathering Place, embodied by the place where the franchise's fans gather before and after games. The blue background is inspired by the landscapes of Lake Michigan bordering the city, while the cream wave running across the jersey picks up on the design of the Bucks' arena roof.

Washington Wizards jersey City Edition 2023-2024

After a pink jersey inspired by the cherry blossoms found in the American capital, the Wizards are this time using a black background with bright red and blue details. The texture applied to these colors is supposed to symbolize the oxidation of the city's statues over time. The District Of Columbia, the only city not to belong to any of the 50 American states, is also featured. As is often the case on Wizards jerseys, the stars refer to those on the American flag: the Stars and Stripes.

Miami Heat jersey City Edition 2023-2024

After several editions of the Vice City collection, followed by a patchwork mash-up of letters over the last two seasons, the Floridians have turned the page and are now paying tribute to Heat Culture, a mentality and work ethic that has enabled Jimmy Butler's teammates to reach the NBA Finals twice in the last four seasons.

Brooklyn Nets jersey City Edition 2023-2024

After several editions paying tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat, the Nets are changing artists, this time collaborating with New York artist Kaws. A product of the graffiti scene, the artist has created a colorful result in an almost cartoonish style, embodied by the Nets lettering, which emerges from the jersey with a certain gentleness.

Indiana Pacers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Indiana Pacers have chosen to revitalize the franchise's historic colors, with two yellow "paint splatter" effect stripes. While the state of Indiana is usually the focus of Tyrese Haliburton's franchise, this time it's the city of Indianapolis, shortened to Indy, that draws attention to the center of the jersey.

Philadelphia 76ers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Philadelphia, world-renowned as the City of Brotherly Love, is once again building on this title for its City Edition jersey. The predominantly midnight-blue jersey features white lettering and numbering crossed by a red line, directly inspired by the design of the Reading Terminal Market sign, one of the city's main public markets, with which the Sixers are associated.

Cleveland Cavaliers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

This year, the Cleveland Cavs return to a burgundy-red jersey, crossed out with subtle golden The Land lettering, and adorned with trim featuring a slightly Old School pattern, for a classic but well-balanced final rendering.

Boston Celtics jersey City Edition 2023-2024

This year, the C's will be sporting a predominantly white City jersey, which features two stripes on the sides in a "wood" color and texture, while a patch above the size label is a reminder that it was in Springfield, Massachusetts, a stone's throw from Boston, that basketball was invented in 1891.

Orlando Magic jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Orlando Magic reveal a jersey that's rather dark but very streamlined. The blue background features thin, lighter stripes and an even more subtle diamond pattern. On the Orlando lettering on the torso, the characteristic star on the A of Magic from the 2000s logo makes a comeback this time in place of the A of Orlando.

Charlotte Hornets jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The only Jordan Brand jersey in the City Edition collection, the Hornets, owned by His Airness, renew the Buzz City moniker for this 2023-2024 edition. The inscription The Hive is Alive, under the size label, is a reminder that the Hornets will be a force to be reckoned with in the new NBA season.

Chicago Bulls jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Rather simple in appearance, this Bulls City jersey with its Chicago lettering on the top is a reminder of the grandeur of the Windy City's skyscrapers. Above the size label, Madhouse on Madison pays tribute to the Bulls' two historic venues on Madison Street. These are Chicago Stadium, from 1929 to 1994, and the United Center, from 1995 to the present day.

Atlanta Hawks jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The last Eastern franchise in this presentation, the Atlanta Hawks present a jersey that could not be more sober, yet nonetheless effective. The lower-case ATL lettering in a serif font adds a touch of class to a jersey that was not lacking in class, with its combination of black, light blue and cream.

Houston Rockets jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Heading West with the Houston Rockets. The H-Town Texans have chosen to pay tribute to their Hometown Heroes: Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon, whose signatures appear on the lower part of the jersey. These two star players of the 1990s gave the franchise a back-to-back in 1994 and 1995.

New Orleans Pelicans jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Pelicans are accustomed to presenting jerseys in the colors of Mardi-Gras, a major annual event throughout Louisiana. This year, the inspiration was found instead in the neon lights of the lively Bourbon Street, a downtown street with numerous bars and a lively nightlife, as well as in Voodoo culture for the fonts.

Sacramento Kings jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Sacramento Kings have focused on their franchise's history, reverting to the colors of the franchise when it was named Royals and based in Rochester and then Cincinnati. Blue, the franchise's main color for 7 decades, takes center stage. On the bottom of the jersey, there are 8 variations of crowns, derived from current and former franchise logos, and celebrating the franchise's 100 years. The Kings have their roots in the Rochester Seagrams, a semi-professional team founded in 1923.

Golden State Warriors jersey City Edition 2023-2024

The Warriors remind us that they've been back in San Franciso since their arrival at the Chase Center, with this City Edition jersey, which like last year combines yellow with black. The city's curvilinear lettering recalls the steep hills of The City by the Bay, as well as the rails of the mythical cable cars, a kind of tramway typical of the city, an illustration of which is featured on the bottom of the jersey.

Los Angeles Lakers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

This season, the team-mates of LeBron James and Anthony Davis will wear a black jersey, which will feature the franchise name in the form of a pyramid, as was notably the case in the 1960s on equipment worn by the staff. The secondary colors are similar to the franchise's main colors, with bright yellow and purple.

Los Angeles Clippers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

We stay in Los Angeles with the Clippers. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard's franchise - which we hope will return to its best - is sporting a jersey with the Clips lettering in the same font used for the 1978 logo, the year the Clippers left Buffalo to land on the Pacific coast in San Diego.

Oklahoma City Thunder jersey City Edition 2023-2024

This year, the Oklahoma City Thunder unveil a jersey that emphasizes the franchise's secondary colors. Yellow and orange stripes surround the usual alternative OKC logo and a backdrop pattern of unstructured Thunder logos.

Utah Jazz jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Like many other franchises, the Jazz have chosen to draw on their history to compose this 2023-2024 City jersey. It features a purple background and a white mountain gradient, reminiscent of the legendary jersey from the Karl Malone / John Stockton era. The Utah lettering on the chest is reminiscent of the Jazz logo from 1997 to 2010.

Memphis Grizzlies jersey City Edition 2023-2024

On the Grizzlies side, the minimalist MEM logo resurfaces this year after having been introduced at the elastic waistband of the Association and Icon kit shorts in 2018-2019. The design remains asymmetrical, with a white stripe lightening the jersey on one side only. The overall look is very pure with these basic colors, simply enhanced by the player numbers, which appear in gold lettering.

Dallas Mavericks jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Mavericks have teamed up with Leon Bridges, a soul singer-songwriter born in Fort Worth, the second largest community in the Dallas metropolitan area. His signature can be found above the size label, and the typography of the Mavs script is a reminder of the artist's musical style. At the bottom of the jersey is a reminder that the jersey is dedicated to all residents of the Metroplex, from Dallas to Fort Worth.

San Antonio Spurs jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Gone is the Fiesta jersey, which made a long-awaited comeback last season. The Spurs chose to welcome Wemby by celebrating the 55th anniversary of the 1968 HemisFair, i.e. the 1968 International Specialized Exhibition, traces of which can still be seen in San Antonio's HemisFair Park, and by looking up at the Tower of the Americas, the city's emblematic 229-meter-high tower built for the occasion. Returning to the jersey, the colors and font used certainly give it a successful Sixties and retro feel.

Minnesota Timberwolves jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Minnesota, known as the State of 10,000 Lakes, features on its new City jersey a texture depicting the frigid waters of the wide expanses surrounding the city of Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves are based.

Phoenix Suns jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Phoenix, the capital of Arizona and a major city in the southern United States, has a strong Hispanic community, to which the Suns frequently pay tribute. El Valle, the translation of The Valley already featured on their City 2022 jersey, appears on this new edition. The sides of the jersey feature an airbrushed motif inspired by lowriders, the custom cars emblematic of Mexican-American culture.

Portland Trail Blazers jersey City Edition 2023-2024

Orphaned by the death of Damian Lillard, the Blazers pay tribute to their former Hall of Famer coach Dr. Jack Ramsay, whose signature appears on the bottom of the jersey. Dr. Ramsay gave the Blazers their only NBA title in 1977, when they wore a jersey with checkered details, which can be found in the form of inserts on the City jersey for the 2023-2024 season.

Denver Nuggets jersey City Edition 2023-2024

We round off this roundup of the 30 NBA franchise City jerseys with the defending Champions. Denver, nicknamed the Mile High City for being precisely one mile from attitude, proudly displays this 5280-foot equivalent height on its 2023-2024 City jersey. The Rocky Mountains that run through Colorado are also featured in the backdrop to the city skyline.
